Tour Script Assignment

Avatar
Campus Tours

To start this assignment, find the list for Tour Route 1.

  1. You should have already put this route in with the other routes. Paste it again after those. You will be using it to write out your tour script.
  2. In your tour script and in this forum write out your tour introduction. Your tour introduction should at least include:
    1. An introduction of who you are (name, year, major, fun fact about yourself, etc.)
    2. A welcome to CSUSM (maybe with a joke or two)
    3. Some questions to get to know your group (where they are from, school year, potential major, etc.).
    4. This should be written as a conversation with your group to get them interactive and comfortable with you as their tour guide.
  3. In your tour script and in this forum write out your tour conclusion. Your tour conclusion should at least include:
    1. Letting the group know that they are at the end of their tour.
    2. A thank you for coming.
    3. A moment for final questions.
    4. Letting them know about the survey and what it is for. (If you do not know, ask one of your coworkers.)
    5. Asking if anyone needs help getting back to parking.
    6. This should be written as a conversation with your group to get them interactive and comfortable with you as their tour guide.
  4. Post to forum and and add to script if you have not already done so.

1. (Administrative Buliding) Hello everybody! Welcome to Cal State San Marcos! My name is James. I am a 3rd year here at CSUSM! My current major is Electrical Engineering. I chose Electrical Engineering because I'm a very hands-on learner and I want to become the next Tony Stark. One club I've been with on campus was the radio club where we get to build functioning radios. A fun fact about myself is I've switched my major 3 times within a year. I currently rent an apartment and commute to campus either walking, biking, or carpooling with my roommate. My favorite thing to do on campus is to go to the Library and watch YouTube videos or study in between classes. If you have any questions feel free to stop and ask me at any time during the tour.

Route Start

1. Craven (Introduction)

Hi, my name is Kimberly, and I'm a first year here at CSUSM. I am currently majoring in Criminology and Justice Studies as well as minoring in Psychology. A fun fact about me is that I am from El Centro which is right next to Mexicali. My favorite place in the world is Disneyland and I love to travel. Thank you so much for being here today and allowing me to show you this amazing campus! What grade are you guys in? What school do you go to? What do you want to study when you're in college?

2. Walk towards the 2nd floor of the library. Tell them facts and ask them to be quiet when entering (go through the computer lab and make your way to the stairs). Stand in front of the library and talk about that with them.

3. Go to the USU and give some details about that (types of food inside). Tour them inside the USU and lead them to the greenhouse. Point out the sports center, gym, housing options, dining hall, etc.

4. Walk to the Cesar Chavez statue and talk about the myth.

5. Walk to the SBSB (talk about Science Hall 2 as well) and have them quietly enter inside. Talk about the classes that take place.

6. Go upstairs to the art building and talk about it. Mention the biggest lecture hall that we have. Talk about the different art classes offered.

7. Walk through Palm Court (don't stop) then talk about Markstein Hall. Go in and see if any classes are empty (If they are then take the kids in there, if not then walk out).

8. Point out the Engineering Center and talk about the Veteran Center.

9. Go to the academic hall and talk about classes that are in there. Also, talk about Science Hall 1.

10. Go to the seal and ask them not to step on it because of the myth.

12. University store and end up back at the Craven Hall.

Conclusion

- This is the end of our tour here at CSUSM. Thank you all so much for your time and attention! Are there any questions? There is a survey that I would like you guys to fill out, regarding the tour. Does anyone need directions for parking?

A fun fact about me is that I drink a lot of coffee and the amazing options around here just made my problem worse. So tell me about yourselves what's your name and, are you going to be first years or transfers?

….

Wow that’s amazing, I came here as a first-year student and have really fallen in love with our campus. Do you know what you might want to major in?

...

So, this is Cal State San Marcos, also known as Cal State Stair Master. As you have probably noticed, there are many many stairs here, so people on our campus have amazing legs. We do have elevators located around our campus, but I personally like the gainz I get when I take the stairs. We were founded in 1989 and if that year sounds familiar to you it's because we share a birthday with the queen Taylor Swift herself. That did 100% have an influence on my decision.
