A "Fun" Club on campus that you can join on campus that I am apart of is the South and West Asian, North and East African Club, also known as SAWANEA. It is a cultural club on campus that wants to provide awareness to the cultures and to break the stereotypes. Its a great way to meet new people with the same cultures as your own and to have fun playing games and enjoying food.

A Sport club we have on CSUSM is the Intramural Volleyball Club. You don't have to know how to play or even know all the positions to play. There are other clubs as well, but one of my favorite sports is volleyball especially meeting people with the same interest to play as you.

One of the many Student Center club here is the veterans center. One of the cool things about going is that you don't need to be a veteran or have family who are. They also provide snacks, free printing, coffee, and a place to hang out either outside or in the A/C.

One Academic Club/ Society we have is the Speech and Debate Club. If you have no experience or don't know what to do they are willing to help you and explain how it goes. They meet twice a week and do test runs of debates to get you an understanding of how it works.

There are currently a total of 19 different Fraternities and Sororities on campus. Greek life throw a variety of different events that they donate the money they raise to different charities. They have club rush to meet new people and have a great opportunity to develop different skills being in the board.

- A very fun and cute club called best buddies is offered here on campus. Their mission of Best Buddies is dedicated to establishing a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one to one friendships, integrated employment, leadership and inclusive living for individuals with intellectual and development disabilities. They make them feel apart of the school aside form their disabilities and this shows CSUSM is a very accepting and inclusive school.

-One of the school sports offered here is called the surf club. It is a highly competitive sport and they have actually won a few national titles. They go train and then they have a few competitions  on the water with students and other schools.

-One of the student center options is the Latinx program. They focus on Latinx student validation and engagement by providing culturally enriching and transformational programs that foster and promote holistic student success. They also hold events and give traditional food to students on campus as well as host events around their culture.

-An academic club offered here is the chemistry and biochemistry academic association. This is a great club for people who have a bio major. As well as a great resource to get help with any bio and chem homework as well as give opportunities for internships.

Fun Club: CSUSM is proud to have hundreds of clubs for all students to participate in and take a step further to get involved. One fun club that is really popular is the Anime and Gaming Club which has just under 100 members. Their purpose is to include and welcome students who are interested in gaming and anime and it is a great way to meet new people, and they primarily use Discord and Instagram to keep club members involved in club activities and any news within the club.

Sports Club: One of our sport clubs is the Baseball Club and it is an alternate option for students who don't want to play at a professional level but would still like to play baseball. Our baseball club still travels, practices, and plays with other baseball clubs from colleges on the West Coast. In addition to baseball, our Campus Recreation has 11 other sports clubs that students can play if they don't want to play at the professional level.

Student Center: The Cross-cultural center is one of our first student centers which operated since 2003, and it gives students an insight about identity exploration and appreciating differences. This center and all of our centers on campus are open and welcome to all students to use as a study space and also to receive free supplies and food. The Cross-cultural center additionally has a new mural symbolizing a reminder that we are a diverse university and the challenges that we still face today.

History Club: One of our academic clubs is the History Club which is designated for anyone (including professors) who are interested and love the subject of history. The club is partnered with the "Phi Alpha Theta" which is our history honors society. In order to get a more understanding of history, the History Club also has guest presentations and "show and tells".

Greek Life: An additional way to expand your way to get involved here at CSUSM, we have 9 sororities and 8 fraternities and about 5% of the CSUSM population is in a fraternity or sorority. Our fraternities and sororities stand for leadership development, community impact, and diversity. In order to join, members have to have 12 college units completed, at least a 2.5 G.P.A., and be enrolled in at least 6 units.

1. The Kamalyan Alliance is the Filipino club on campus and it stopped temporarily in the 23-24 school year, but now they are out of hiatus for the 24-25 school year.  This club is not only for Filipino's, but for people who want to learn about the Philippines culture. They have a buddy program where the new members are called the adings ( young siblings) and the returning members are called the kuya's ( big brother) and ate ( big sister). Each ading will be paired with a kuya or ate that they have similar interest with and hangout. They also have free food at their meetings and it feels like a little Filipino family on campus.

  • Write 3 sentences for a single "Fun" Club

One club I found fun was the MSA club, which some people might find confusing, but is where I found most of my friends, spent most of my time there, and had the most laughs at. Weekly soccer games, the ability to study while hanging out with friends and studying in a private room, and having really fun events like hiking or potlucks really helped me feel more welcomed on campus and changed how I viewed daily life at campus, from all school to a balance of fun and studying.

Write 3 sentences for a single  Sport/sport club

As noted above I do try to attend a weekly soccer event, so its great to see the campus have its own soccer club for those interested! The CSUSM Men's Soccer Club seems to practice around 3 times a week, but do have compete in games during the weekend, great for college students who might be bust throughout the weekday. Thanks to the calendar they have posted on the CSUSM website its easy to check when they have games, and they do seem to very active throughout the months.

  • Write 3 sentences for a single  Student Center

The Black Student Center is one center I’ve seen the most because of how close they are to the USU Market. Their board outside the club seems to have weekly jokes or just interesting notes so its great to read when walking by. The club is not just meant for weekly jokes though, they support their members through partnerships and new opportunities and recognize the diversity of African descent and what help each individual might need.

  • Write 3 sentences for a single Academic Club or Society

One society I know is the Alpha Lambda Delta, and that's because I actually joined their honor society! Alpha Lambda Delta is a relatively old honor society founded in 1924, and is one of the nationally recognized ones as well. They are meant to help its members through scholarships, meetings, and other help you might need throughout your time in college. To apply you need a 3.5 GPA or higher and they might mail you on Outlook to join, which is how I received the invitation.

  • Write  a handful of sentences summarizing what Greek Life is here on campus, what they do, and how many there are.

CSUSM offers many Fraternities and Sororities which you can find online, being able to see in detail each one's goals, benefits, and other information you might need. Through these greek life's many students find activities to do on and off of campus, though many do need fees to join and other payments you might want to check out before joining. You can see some of them advertising their organization throughout the semester as well.

A cool club sport we have at CSUSM is the dance team. They dance at many campus events, and bring spirit to sports games, fundraising events, and much more. They are intentionally inclusive of non-gender-conforming individuals, and pride themselves with the safe space they provide for them.

  • Write 3 sentences for a single Academic Club or Society

A great academic society here at CSUSM is the Kinesiology Student Organization. They have monthly meetings where you can connect with individuals in that major or interested in that major, and even professionals who have made a career out of Kinesiology. They meet the first Thursday of every month in the Kinesiology department suite, and sometimes even have guest speakers.

  • Write  a handful of sentences summarizing what Greek Life is here on campus, what they do, and how many there are.

"Greek Life" refers to Sororities and Fraternities we have here on campus. We have multicultural organizations which are sororities or fraternities specifically geared towards a certain culture, or we have IFC or Panhellenic Fraternities and Sororities, which do not describe themselves as geared towards one specific culture. These orgs are a great way to find a community of friends and connections, as well as learn social skills and work towards a philanthropic cause.

  • Write 3 sentences for a single "Fun" Club

Two very fun clubs I found on campus are the CSUSM Climbers and the book and music club. I am a very avid reader and enjoy being able to unwind and meet new people who share similar interests as me. The reading club allows me to read the same book as other people and receive feedback and different perspectives from the same book. The CSUSM climbing club is also another active way to relax the mind and tire out your body. It is energizing and fun to climb with new people and try new obstacles.

  • Write 3 sentences for a single  Sport/sport club

A sport club I find interesting is the powerlifting club as I participated in a weightlifting club in high school. I think it is a great way to stay healthy and in shape well also meeting other people. The powerlifting club is different from other weightlifting clubs as they also participate in powerlifting meets once a semester and all members of the club must participate in these meets.

  • Write 3 sentences for a single  Student Center

A wonderful and diverse student center would have to be the Cross Cultural Center located in the USU on the second floor. This center is open to all students and they are very inclusive, they celebrate each culture, hold events, spread information about other parts of the world and allow students to come in and participate in their meetings. It is also a wonderful place to study, join discussions, meet new people and even vent.

The club holds events throughout the academic year with business professionals, they offer advice to students, they teach students to network and discuss their goals. The club can also be found outside of the USU during U-Hour and they offer snacks and fun games.

  • Write  a handful of sentences summarizing what Greek Life is here on campus, what they do, and how many there are.

There are over 18 different fraternities, sororities and other Greek life's on campus. The Greek life is available to all students who chose to join and rush and though there are no official houses provided by the school, some Sororities/Frats do decide to rent a house close to campus but not all members necessarily chose to live there. The Sororities work with little girls as mentors, they run a 5k each year and hold a beach volleyball tournament to raise money for the 5k. The Greek life also holds mixes, decorate for holidays and more. The members can live on campus or be commuters, regardless they are each given a role/task to perform and they are required to attend meetings. You can catch all of the Greek life on campus on Cougar Blue day as well as the U-Hour and during all other events that are held on campus.

  • Write 3 sentences for a single "Fun" Club

One of the clubs i think is very fun and interesting is the Minecraft club. I have enjoyed this game my entire life, so to find out there is an actual club on campus where students get together on the game and play with each other was amazing to find out. This club's main purpose is to provide a safe and friendly place for people who love the video game to come together as a community and have fun.

  • Write 3 sentences for a single Sport/sport club.

Men's soccer club is my personal favorite club. There are 3 levels to sports at CSUSM, and club soccer is just below the NCAA2 team. In the club we still get to practice almost every day, but we also get to play against other schools like UCLA or UCSD. Whereas the intermural sports are just against other students in your school. So, if you don't play for the collegiate level team and still want to play at a competitive and high level, then i think club sports is the way to go.

  • Write 3 sentences for a single Student Center

A student center that I could relate to and find many other students with experiences like mine is the Latinx center. The Latinx Center at California State University San Marcos provides programming and services that are relevant and responsive to Latin@/x student needs. This center is very involved with our campus, like doing events on campus and things related to the club outside of campus as well.

  • Write 3 sentences for a single Academic Club or Society

One of the many academic clubs we have on campus is the Psi Chi club.  Psi Chi is the international honor society in Psychology that is dedicated to promoting the academic excellence and scholarship of its individual members, as well as advancing the science of psychology. I think clubs like these are very important resources for our students to get involved with because it is a club pretty much for students with the exact same interest and goals as you. I this case students that want to go into a field related to phycology can get together and have events go on to help them figure out what they want to do with their major.

  • Write a handful of sentences summarizing what Greek Life is here on campus, what they do, and how many there are.

Greek life is a perfect way for you to get involved with your campus and meet many new people. A lot of people think Greek life is just about partying and drinking. What they don't know is it is a very social and fulfilling club option. Greek orgs host many events on campus that have to do with fundraising as well as promotion.  Currently we have 5 sororities and 4 fraternities on campus.

1. The Book and Music club has 60 members and it combines my two most favorite things in this entire world; music and literature. I also love how its a collaborative effort to pick the music and book you listen to and read at the same time. I love the concept of combining the two best things in this world music and books into one group organization.

2. For my sports club, I chose to do powerlifting mainly because the first thing I noticed about the site is that it had three women on the front lifting which was awesome and empowering. The cool thing about powerlifting is that they compete in events throughout the semester which is really cool instead of just a gym buddy your actually working toward a goal. The cool aspect of powerlifting is that they have nationals in Texas which is crazy!

3. A student organization that I related to was the Pride Center because I am a part of the community so its nice having a bunch of friends throughout the school who are also a part of this community. They talk about many different types of issues including LGBTQIA+ issues, homophobia, biphobia, transphobia, sex and sexuality, gender identity and expression, and sexuality, race, sex, culture, and class. This center was really cozy when I went in there it had a very welcoming vibe about it.

4. There is a club for future educators association which is amazing and I didn't know it even existed until I did the research. This club is mainly there to help other future educators get jobs and help with certificates and things like that. I think thats a great way for me specifically to find out which set of ages or grades I want to teach.

5. The Greek Life on campus is pretty active in the community. Some of them are more social while others are more community based. There are 10 total fraternities and sororities which is good considering how small our school is, but our school is actively growing so you never know.

FUN CLUB:

There are many clubs to join here at CSUSM. A club here that would be fun to join, if one enjoys reading, would be the Book and Music Club. In this club you can get together and choose a book to read and a new album to listen to. It is a wonderful way to get to know new people and find new things in common!

SPORTS CLUB:

For the sports, there are many to consider joining. One good one would be the Swimming Club. If you're interested in swimming and competing, this is a good one to join.

STUDENT CENTER:

There are several student centers in the Extended Learning building. One that had caught my attention would be the Women Gender Equity Center. This center is very informative in details around women, gender issues, etc.

ACADEMIC CLUB:

Academic clubs are a great way to stay connected to your academics. And one club that is great for staying connected to your writing skills would be the Literature and Writing Club. This club gets together and meets while discussing any and all creative writing you have done.

Use the following list for the assignment prompt:

  • Write 3 sentences for a single "Fun" Club

  • One of our “fun” clubs here on campus is the Minecraft club. This is a club for people who are super into the game and want to connect with others who share their passion. This is one of the many personal interest clubs on campus and lets people connect through school into the virtual world.

  • Write 3 sentences for a single Sport/sport club

  • We offer sports clubs on campus too! Like our newly established powerlifting club. Since we do not have a lifting team this club serves to stay fit and create an uplifting community ha-ha.

  • Write 3 sentences for a single Student Center

  • One center that I love to utilize here on campus is the Womens Gender and Equity Center. This is a center that creates a safe space on campus for women, but anyone can feel free to attend. They have guest speakers, offer free printing, and have programs to uplift our students.

  • Write 3 sentences for a single Academic Club or Society

  • On campus we have an Phi Theta Heath Society chapter. “The Phi Theta Heath Society has since been encouraging and furthering leadership, research, and partnership in chapter members and the health care community”. Which is an amazing way to uplift one of our most competitive majors.

  • Write a handful of sentences summarizing what Greek Life is here on campus, what they do, and how many there are.

  • There are many options to get involved in Greek life here on our campus. We have both cultural and philanthropic organizations. We have 16 different orgs on campus so there is defiantly many to choose from. They hold events on campus and raise money for each of their respective philanthropies.

1:One club on campus that I personally belong to and regularly attend events at is called Young Life. I had no trouble joining them since they are so warm and accepting, and they quickly treat me like one of their own. Most of their events involve playing various games and performing karaoke while having a good time with your friends. However, they also occasionally discuss Jesus and the bible, making it possible to classify them as a sort of religious club. Despite this, they are very laid back about it, so if you are uncomfortable listening to it, you can simply find somewhere else to hang out until they are finished.

Soccer is a sport club that I am extremely familiar with. They held a tryout at the beginning of the semester, and I went. It was great. The audition lasted three days, and they chose players based on need. Because I was a defender, I wasn't selected, but it's okay. They were incredibly laid-back, and the coaches were excellent as well, so I believe they are a fantastic athletic club.

The student center that caught my attention was the Cross Culture Center; they are the only center that opened up without any prior controversy, without any protest or argument, and they simply opened up for anyone who felt they needed a free space to be themselves. The Cross Culture Center also offers some free resources, so if you'd like, you can take advantage of those as well.

Although I am not a member of the real estate club on campus, I met them at a student organization fair, and I believe they are awesome. If someone is interested in real estate, this club is ideal for them, and I highly recommend it to them.

greek life here at Csusm is mostly about doing community service, fundraising, and GPA statics and there are 8 fraternity and 8 sorority with 900 hundred members. they also develop a leadership skills, Intellectual Development, Service to Others & Community Impact and Diversity & Inclusion.

This is a student-run organization that aims to help students better understand law school and their admissions process. The society often hears presentations from different law schools in the surrounding areas.
